5.0 Disclaimer

5.01 Redoo Engineered timber flooring is constructed from natural materials. Engineered timber is hygroscopic, which means it absorbs and expels moisture in response to climatic (temperature and humidity) and site conditions.

5.02 Engineered timber expands and contracts as moisture levels change and for this reason it is essential that the correct expansion allowance is used during installation – see Installation Guidelines.

5.03 There will be considerable expansion and contraction at different times of the year which will result in cupping, bumps and surface cracks.

5.04 When conditions are extremely wet or dry (such as periods of drought, flooding or long periods of wet weather) and/or rapid changes in humidity occur, the flooring may squeak, gap, cup, crown or display some surface checking. This is due to extreme expansion or contraction. These conditions are beyond our ability to control, and therefore Redoo Flooring stipulates that relative humidity where the flooring is installed must be maintained at an average between 30%-70% .

5.05 In order to achieve this, humidifiers/evaporative coolers may be required in very dry climates, and air conditioners may be required in very moist and humid areas. Failure to maintain relative humidity within these levels will void this warranty.

5.06 Inexpensive relative humidity meters are readily available from electronics retailers, and should be used where there are concerns over the site’s relative humidity levels.

5.07 Color & Grain Variation

  1. a) Being manufactured from a natural material, colour/grain variations can occur between batches. Colour and appearance can also be affected by exposure to ultraviolet light and oxygen.
  2. b) Redoo Flooring cannot be responsible for claims arising from flooring that possesses a greater range of grain/color variation than found in samples supplied by dealers.

5.08 Character Grade

  1. a) Redoo Flooring collections are purposely selected as a character grade wood and as such, contains all the original defining uniqueness such as open knotholes, pits, worm holes, true craftsmanship hand-scraping and other naturally occurring elements of a character grade floor.
  2. b) Clients purchase these collections flooring precisely for these defining characteristics in order to create a truly vintage look. We suggest allowing 5% waste for cross cutting and removal of cracks and end splits. Allow additional 5% if open knots will be cut out and not filled.

5.09 Manufacturing Defects

  1. a) Redoo Flooring warrants hardwood flooring against manufacturing defects caused by improper milling, grading, and finishing. Damages caused by improper transportation, storage, and installation are not covered.
  2. b) Redoo Flooring is liable only when the defective flooring exceeds 10% of the original hardwood flooring purchase order and will only repair or replace such defective material, excluding the cost of transportation, storage, and installation. Occasional defects in flooring from miss-milling or handling damage do occur.
  3. c) During installation, occasional defects will be encountered including machining snipes, wanes, splits, and areas on the face that will not clean up. Simply crosscut out the defects and use the remaining sections to start or finish a row. If the installer discovers a reoccurring problem or determines the waste to be excessive, stop immediately and call the retailer to review the problem before proceeding.
  4. d) Redoo Flooring will at its option, either send replacement flooring or credit the purchaser for that portion of flooring which fails to make grade. DO NOT install defective flooring. Flooring that has been installed is deemed to be acceptable.
  5. e) Redoo Flooring shall not be responsible for costs associated with installing, finishing, and/or replacing of flooring installed with obvious defects.
